Smile Gallery - Pediatric Dentistry
At Downey Dental Arts, we want to make coming to the dentist as pleasant an experience as possible for patients of all ages. Dr. Barkhordar and our caring team welcome infants, toddlers, children and adolescents. We understand the importance of teaching children the habits of good oral care early for lifelong wellness. Our pediatric dentistry gives kids the foundation for healthy, beautiful teeth and lasting oral health.
For small children, we believe the presence of a parent or guardian not only helps to keep kids calm, but also assists us in making sure your child receives safe, gentle dental care. Dr. Barkhordar will conduct a wellness check to ensure your child’s teeth are healthy. During this checkup, he will look for the presence of tooth decay, gum or jaw issues, overbite, underbite or other bite problems, and any other dental issues present.
We take the time to talk to you about your child’s dental care, providing tools you can use to keep your entire family’s oral health in top shape. We also work with kids to get them involved in the process, making sure they have the knowledge needed to keep their teeth strong and healthy!
When should my child first see a dentist?
You should schedule to visit the dentist within six months of your baby’s first tooth coming in. This first visit serves primarily as an introduction of your child to our team and a wellness check to proactively plan for any future issues that may arise.
Evolving Dental Needs of Your Child
As we age, our health-related needs change over time. The same is true for dentistry. We take X-rays around the age of five or six in order to detect the presence of cavities, look for any other issues, and examine the development of permanent teeth.
As permanent teeth come in, different types of orthodontic care may be used depending on your child’s individual needs.
Whatever your child’s dental needs or age, we welcome you to schedule a visit with us. Call us today to set up your family’s appointment!
