What Is the Difference Between Full and Partial Dentures?
Modern removable dentures come in two basic forms: “full” and “partial.” Full dentures replace an entire row of teeth. In some cases, we may remove some remaining teeth if they are decayed or weak, and full dentures might work better. Partial dentures do not replace an entire row of teeth, just a specific number of teeth. A partial denture system utilizes a metal framework to connect to existing teeth.
What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?
While dentures have traditionally been removable, we now have modern implant-supported dentures. Implant-supported dentures are held into place with dental implants that screw into the jaw. Thus, these dentures do not need to be removed like typical dentures.
What Are Dentures Made Out Of?
Dentures are usually made from acrylic that is colored to look like gums. The teeth in dentures can be made from different materials, some are plastic, and others may be porcelain (more expensive). Partial dentures will also include a chrome-cobalt framework.
